Apollo Theatre Seating Plan

844 seats across four levels: Stalls, Dress Circle, Grand Circle and Balcony. It is a tall, narrow theatre rather than a wide one, so the levels stack steeply above each other and you gain height fast as you go up. The seating plan has stayed the same across recent shows, so the advice here should hold whatever is playing.

The four levels

Stalls, 365 seats, rows A to X. The biggest level by some distance and the one most people should book. One block with no aisle down the middle.

Dress Circle, 186 seats, rows A to G. Closest of the upper levels and only 12 steps up from the foyer, which makes it the easiest level to reach in the building. The sides are the catch.

Grand Circle, 143 seats, rows A to F. 41 steps up. Regular, two blocks either side of one central aisle, and priced below the Dress Circle.

Balcony, 150 seats, rows A to F. 80 steps up, the cheapest seats in the building, and a genuine view of the whole stage if you can manage the climb.

Stalls or Circle at the Apollo?

The Stalls, for most people and most productions. This is not a wide theatre, so you are close to the stage down there without being off to one side, and the rake towards the back is steep enough to see over the row in front.

Go up only if you want the whole stage in one frame, which matters more for something with staging and lighting to take in than for a play built around a performer's face. The Dress Circle is the sensible first move upwards, not the Grand Circle, because it is nearer and far easier to reach.

Where the money goes furthest

The rear Stalls can be the best deal in this theatre. The four short rows behind R are right at the back and lose the top of the stage, but they are central, they sit high on the rake and they sell for a fraction of the centre.

If the budget is genuinely tight, the Balcony is good value, provided you are happy with the 80 steps.

Seating Plan FAQs

Are the Apollo's seats always in the same place?

Yes, across recent shows the seating plan has stayed the same, so seat advice should hold whatever is playing.

Which is the best level at the Apollo Theatre?

The Stalls for most people. It is a small theatre, so you are close without being at an angle, and the Stalls hold nearly half the seats in the building.
