Access and Facilities at the Harold Pinter Theatre

The step-free seats here are in the Dress Circle, which is level with the foyer and the street. There's no lift, so the Stalls, the Royal Circle and the Balcony are stairs only.

Access bookings go through the venue's own access team on the theatre's official site, not through us.

Getting in and getting to your seat

From the street to the foyer and on into the Dress Circle there are no steps. Inside the Dress Circle the rows then step down towards the stage, 8 to 10 steps from the back row to the front one, with no handrails, so the back rows are the easiest to reach.

Steps to the other levels:

  • Stalls: 29 steps down from street level
  • Royal Circle: stairs only, from its own entrance at the side of the building
  • Balcony: 59 steps up from street level, through the same side entrance

Wheelchair and transfer seating

The Dress Circle has the theatre's two wheelchair spaces. Transfer seats are in rows E and F of the same level, and staff can store your wheelchair while you watch.

Every seat has fixed armrests, and the seats are 49cm wide and 46cm deep. There are no seats without armrests.

Accessible toilet

In the foyer, step-free from the street.

Hearing support

The hearing system here is Sennheiser MobileConnect. It's partway through an upgrade following customer feedback, and until that's finished the theatre warns it may not work as well as it should, so ask the venue before you rely on it.

Captioned, signed and audio-described performances

Accessible performances are scheduled show by show, and the dates are on the show's own page. For audio-described performances, the theatre recommends sitting in the Stalls no further back than row M. Touch tours are sometimes offered alongside them.

Assistance dogs and other support

Assistance dogs are welcome, and staff can look after your dog during the performance. A visual story, showing what happens on a visit, is available from the theatre for anyone who'd like to prepare in advance.

Bars

There's a bar on every level. The biggest is in the foyer, and it's step-free from the street. You can also have drinks brought to your seat: scan the code on the back of the seat and enter your seat number, or ask the staff in the auditorium, and your drinks are brought to you at the interval. It's the way to skip the queue, and to get a drink without any stairs.

Toilets

  • Stalls, Royal Circle and Balcony: toilets on each of these levels
  • Foyer: the accessible toilet, on the same level as the Dress Circle

Bags and coats

Bring a small bag, because every bag is checked at the door. The cloakroom is only for luggage, folded bikes and other bulky things, it has little space, and the theatre would rather you didn't bring luggage or a rucksack at all. E-scooters aren't allowed in.
