Access and Facilities at the London Palladium
Step-free access is to the Stalls only, by a ramp and a lift. It is a listed building, and neither the Royal Circle nor the Grand Circle can be reached without stairs.
Access bookings are handled by the venue's own access team on the theatre's official site, not by us.
Getting in and getting to your seat
Level access is by a ramp to the left of the main Argyll Street entrance, with a doorbell. Attendants are at the front of the building before the show, and access hosts take guests to their seats. For larger wheelchairs, Ramillies Place at the rear is the recommended entrance.
The lift to the Stalls has a 90cm door and is 103cm wide and 140cm deep inside.
Oxford Circus does not have step-free access. Tottenham Court Road, about 800 metres away, and Bond Street are the nearest stations that do.
Wheelchair and transfer seating
There are up to four wheelchair spaces, all in the Stalls, and the positions move depending on the production: for theatre, L46, O48, Q48 and S49; for concerts and gigs, B4, B31, C3 and C35. If you'd rather transfer to a theatre seat, any aisle seat in the Stalls works, and hosts store chairs and walking aids during the performance.
Steps, level by level
- Box Office: 5 steps, with a step-free route
- Stalls: 3 up from the entrance, 14 down to the bar and toilets. Step-free route available
- Royal Circle: 12 up to the kiosks and cloakroom, 15 more to the rear entrance and toilets, 7 more to the bar. Two steps down per row
- Grand Circle: its own entrance, 47 up to the bar. Seats 1 to 10 then enter at row E from bar level. Seats 11 to 27 climb to 72 steps in total and seats 28 to 59 to 67, both entering at row M, with two steps down per row. The toilets are not step-free from the bar
- Boxes: B is 12 up and 18 down. BB and CC are 27 up and 26 down. E, EE, F and FF are 27 up and 22 down
Accessible toilets
Two, both step-free and unlocked throughout: one in the Val Parnell Bar, about twenty metres from the lift entrance, and one at the rear of the Stalls on the left as you go in.
Hearing and sight support
Induction loops are in the foyer Box Office and the Val Parnell corridor, and infra-red hearing systems are available from the cloakroom. Access hosts can help visually impaired visitors from arrival onwards. Assistance dogs are welcome, and staff will look after your dog during the show.
Accessible performances
Audio-described, captioned, BSL-interpreted and relaxed performances run periodically, arranged show by show. For Cinderella: signed on Thursday 31 December at 1pm, audio-described on Thursday 7 January at 7:30pm, and captioned on Friday 8 January at 7:30pm, with the captions on the GalaPro app on your phone.
Strobe and flashing lights are used regularly at the Palladium. Cinderella also uses pyrotechnics, loud and sudden noises, fog and haze.
Bars
Four bars, which is more than most West End theatres, and they are bigger too.
- The Variety Bar, on Stalls level: the biggest, slightly below ground
- The Val Parnell Bar, also on Stalls level, step-free, with an accessible toilet
- The Cinderella Bar, in the Royal Circle: runs across two small levels and is a stunning room in its own right
- The Long Bar, in the Grand Circle: small, and so is the space around it. It is the pinch point at the interval
You can pre-order with LW's Smart Waiter and collect, which is the practical answer to the Grand Circle crush. If you can't get to a bar, staff can bring drinks to your seat and take payment there.
Toilets on every level
- Stalls: 14 steps down from the entrance, with the bar. The two accessible toilets are in the Val Parnell Bar and at the rear of the Stalls
- Royal Circle: at the rear entrance, 27 steps up from the main doors
- Grand Circle: not step-free from the bar
Cloakroom, bags and the foyer
The cloakroom is in the main foyer: £3 for clothing, £5 for bags and suitcases. A handbag or small rucksack is fine to keep with you, and there are bag checks at the door.
The foyer is small and you will be moved through it briskly. The Box Office is separate, on the left as you enter, which makes collection easy. Merchandise is in the main foyer for most productions, and moves to the Variety Bar on Stalls level for concerts.
The theatre is air conditioned throughout.
