Boxes at the Novello Theatre

Now playing: Mamma Mia! From £21 Book tickets

Four Boxes are in use: A and C at Dress Circle level, four seats each, and E and F at Grand Circle level, two seats each. Boxes B and D aren't used.

Should you book one?

Not for the view. The Boxes are bought for privacy. The lower pair, A and C, show you about half the stage, and you have to lean forward to get even that. The upper pair, E and F, do a little better and lose the edge of the stage. The chairs are low and movable, which helps with legroom but not with the view, and lighting or speakers are sometimes rigged at the sides.

Better seats for the money

Book the centre of the Stalls, rows E to P, or rows A to D in the middle of the Dress Circle. Either shows you the whole stage. You lose the private space, but you see the show properly.

When a Box does make sense

When the occasion matters more than the view: a birthday, a proposal, or a group of four who want their own space and their own way in and out. Book it knowing you'll be watching from the side.
