Three levels, from the ground up: the Stalls, the Royal Circle and the Grand Circle, with six Boxes beside the stage. The Stalls are the biggest level, with 937 seats, then the Royal Circle with 648 and the Grand Circle with 582, and the Boxes seat 18 between them, 2,185 in all.
The thing to know before you choose is that The Lion King comes out into the Stalls. At the start of the show the animals come down the aisles, so a Stalls aisle seat puts you right next to them. After that the show works from almost anywhere, because it's so visual, and the choice comes down to budget.
Should I sit in the Stalls or the Royal Circle?
We'd pick the Stalls. They put you close to the faces and in the path of the opening parade. The front of the Royal Circle is the better view of the whole stage at once, which some people prefer for a show this big, and it's a popular level with families.
The levels at a glance
- Stalls, rows A to ZB. The centre from row E to row R is the pick, the side seats of row R have nothing in front of them, and rows A and B are too close
- Royal Circle, rows A to P. The middle of rows B to F is among the best views in the theatre, the back and sides are the value, and row A has a rail and a lighting gantry in front
- Grand Circle, rows A to M. High and steep, the cheapest level, and you still see the whole stage. Legroom is tight everywhere
- Boxes, six of them, seating two to four each. A treat rather than a view
Restricted view seats
The ones to know about are the far ends of the side blocks in the Stalls and the Grand Circle, a handful of Stalls row A seats behind the conductor, and the Boxes, and the booking process flags each one before you buy.
Taller? The best seats for legroom
The Stalls have the most room, and the side seats of row R, seats 2 to 15 and 33 to 46, have an aisle in front of them rather than another row. In the Royal Circle, row P is the roomiest and row A the tightest. The Grand Circle is tight throughout, and row A is the worst in the building.
Step-free seating
The Stalls are reached without a step through the level entrance on Wellington Street, and a lift from the Exeter Street entrance goes up to the Royal Circle and the Grand Circle. The access page has the detail.

Seating Plan FAQs
What are the best seats at the Lyceum Theatre?
The centre of the Stalls, rows E to R, on an aisle if you can get one. The theatre's own advice is a little further forward, rows E to L, but row R is just as good.
Which seats have a restricted view at the Lyceum Theatre?
Mainly the far ends of the side blocks and a few Stalls row A seats by the conductor. Every one is marked restricted when you book, and priced lower.
