Dress Circle at the Peacock Theatre

Around 300 seats, one floor below street level, overlooking the Stalls. A cross aisle runs in front of row E and splits it into a front section, rows A to D, and a rear section, rows E to J. The view is clear from every row, and it suits anyone who likes looking down on the whole stage, but the legroom is tight, so if the Stalls price works for your date we'd still take the Stalls.
Where we'd put you
The centre of rows A to D. You look straight down the middle of the stage and see every formation the company makes, without anything in the way.
The Dress Circle is raised well, so even the back rows are a good option if the price is right. Row J at the back is often among the cheapest seats in the theatre and doesn't feel as far away as you might expect in a theatre this size. A bargain if priced lower.
What to avoid
- The seats just behind the metal bar. There's a split between rows D and E, with rails behind row D and on the wall in front of row E, and a couple of seats lose a little of the view to the bar.
- The seats right against the side walls, at the ends of each row. They're tight to the wall and look across the stage at an angle.
- Row E, if you're tall. It has the least legroom on the level.
Legroom
Tight throughout. Row E is the tightest, comfortable only up to about 5ft 4. Row D has the most room in the front section and row J the most at the back. There are low bars at some aisle ends of row A, and lights on the wall in front of row A, which can get in the way if you're short. If legroom matters, book the Stalls.
Getting there, bars and toilets
The Dress Circle is one floor down from the foyer, then a few steps up to the auditorium doors and one step down between each row. The lift from the foyer stops at this level too, and the two wheelchair spaces are in row J, reached through the accessible entrance on Kingsway. The access page has the detail.
The Dress Circle bar is on this level, and it's usually calmer at the interval than the Stalls bar below. There are Ladies and Gents on this level as well.
Dress Circle FAQs
Is the Dress Circle good at the Peacock Theatre?
Yes, especially rows A to D in the centre, which give a clear view of the whole stage from above. The catch is the legroom, which is tight for anyone tall.
Which Dress Circle seats have the most legroom?
Row D in the front section and row J at the back. Row E has the least, so avoid it if you're over about 5ft 4.
