Boxes at the Cambridge Theatre

3 shows on now · From £23 · See shows

There are three Boxes, four seats each. Only one of them is generally sold for Matilda, and none of them is the best view in the theatre.

Stalls Box A

Box A is sold. It sits behind row S and the cross aisle, set into the rear wall of the Stalls rather than hanging off the side. Treat it as a back-of-the-Stalls seat with a bit of privacy attached. The view is perfectly good; it's just a long way back. The chairs are ordinary movable ones, so the legroom is fine.

The Dress Circle Boxes

The two Boxes at Dress Circle level, one on each side, aren't generally sold for Matilda. If they ever are, they're side-on, you can lose up to a fifth of the side of the stage nearest to you, and they sit close to a speaker, so we'd steer you elsewhere.

Better seats for the money

For Matilda, Box A is priced with the front rows of the Stalls. For the same money or less, you can sit much further forward in the Stalls, with the whole stage in front of you, or in the centre of the Dress Circle for the view from above.

When a Box does make sense

Box A suits a group of four who want to sit together in their own space, with room for coats and bags, and don't mind being at the back. For the view, sit somewhere else.

FAQs

Are the Boxes worth it at the Cambridge Theatre?

For privacy, Box A is fine. For the view, no: it's behind the last row of the Stalls, and the same money or less buys a seat much further forward.

Can I book the Boxes at Dress Circle level?

Not usually for Matilda. They aren't generally on sale, and if they are, they're side-on and next to a speaker.
