By tube
Tottenham Court Road station is directly outside. The Central, Northern and Elizabeth lines all stop there, which makes this one of the best connected theatres in London. From a lot of the city it is one train and then no walk at all.
If your line does not run there:
- Leicester Square, Piccadilly and Northern lines
- Holborn, 750m away, Central and Piccadilly lines
- Oxford Circus, 850m away, Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines
Step-free journeys
For a step-free journey Tottenham Court Road works, but only through its entrance at the corner of New Oxford Street and Charing Cross Road, not whichever exit is nearest. The access page picks the journey up from there.
By train
Charing Cross, Euston, King's Cross and St Pancras are the mainline stations to aim for, all a short tube ride from the theatre.
By bus
Buses stop all round Tottenham Court Road station, most of them within a couple of minutes of the door. Which one to take depends on where you're coming from:
- From North London: the 24 (Hampstead and Camden Town), the 29 (Wood Green and Camden Town), the 390 (Archway and King's Cross), the 73 (Stoke Newington, Angel and Euston) and the 19 (Finsbury Park, Highbury and Angel)
- From the east and the City: the 8 (Bow, Bethnal Green and Liverpool Street) and the 55 (Walthamstow, Hackney and Old Street)
- From West London: the 98 (Willesden, Kilburn and Marble Arch) and the 14 (Putney, Fulham and South Kensington)
- From South London: the 176 (Penge, Camberwell and Elephant & Castle), the 188 (North Greenwich, Greenwich and Elephant & Castle), the 19 (Battersea and Sloane Square), and the 24 and 390 from Victoria
Late at night, more than a dozen night routes stop by the station, including the N5, N20, N29 and N279 north and the N8 and N25 east.
By bike
There is a Santander cycle dock on Great Russell Street and Lime bike parking almost opposite the theatre.
Driving and parking
We would not drive. There is no parking at the theatre, you are inside the Congestion Charge zone, and ULEZ applies across London. The nearest car park is NCP London Shaftesbury, about 450m away, which also holds four disabled bays. Blue Badge bays are scattered through the streets to the west and north and are listed with distances on the access page.
What time to arrive
The doors go 45 minutes ahead of the performance and the bars open with them. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before the start, no later. There is a bag check on the way in, and the Circle is stairs only with no lift, so take the earlier end of that if you are sitting upstairs.
