Restaurants near County Hall

Troia, Belvedere Road. A long-standing Turkish restaurant on the same road as the theatre entrance, a few minutes' walk, and the nearest proper sit-down meal. Relaxed and unfussy.

Wahaca Southbank, Queen Elizabeth Hall. Mexican street food along the river, quick and reliable, and easy to book for a group before a 7:30pm start.

Masters Superfish, Waterloo Road. An old-school fish and chip restaurant beyond Waterloo station, cheap and a favourite of London cabbies. The furthest of these, so leave more time.

The Archduke, Concert Hall Approach. A steak and grill restaurant in the railway arches by Waterloo, open since 1979, with live jazz every night. A good one to book if you want dinner to feel like part of the evening.

Bars and pubs

The Waterloo Tap, Sutton Walk. Craft beer in a railway arch beside Waterloo station, a short walk from the entrance.

The Wellington, Waterloo Road. A big Fuller's pub opposite Waterloo, with a mural of the Battle of Waterloo on the wall.

The Hole in the Wall, Mepham Street. A pub under the Waterloo arches with the trains running overhead, and cheap pints.

Skylon's bar, Royal Festival Hall. For a drink with a view of the river. The long bar has floor-to-ceiling windows over the Thames, and it's a few minutes' walk along the South Bank from County Hall. It's also a top-end restaurant.
