One of the strangest "theatres" in London, as it wasn't designed as a theatre. It wasn't even designed as a courtroom, which is what it has become now as the setting for Witness for the Prosecution. It was originally the debating chamber of the London County Council.

The chamber has two levels of seating and a Jury Box on the stage. Read the section name before the row letter, because the Courtroom Stalls and the Galleries both start at row A.

  • Courtroom Stalls, rows A to F, curving round three sides of the stage. The middle of the price range and the seats we would book.
  • Jury Box, twelve seats on the stage. The most expensive tickets in the building.
  • Galleries, the Central, North and South Galleries, rows A to D, behind the Stalls. The cheapest seats, on benches, with pillars in some views.

What your money buys

For the best view for the money: the Courtroom Stalls. Padded leather seats, better legroom than most West End theatres, and a view of the whole stage from the middle. This is our first choice.

On a tighter budget: the front of the Galleries, towards the centre. You pay the least in the building and still see well, as long as you keep away from the side blocks and the back rows, with the pillars.

For something to remember: the Jury Box. You sit on stage and the cast play to you.

No overhang, anywhere

The Galleries sit behind the Courtroom Stalls rather than over them, in one big round chamber. So no seat loses the top of the stage to a level above, and the back row of the Stalls is not tucked underneath anything. The only things that get in the way of a view here are the pillars up in the Galleries.

There are no Boxes in the chamber.

The seating plan

The plan shows the Courtroom Stalls, the Jury Box and all three Galleries. Tap a section to see what is left on your date and what it costs. Seats with a pillar in the view are marked when you book.

Seating Plan FAQs

Where are the best seats at London County Hall?

The Courtroom Stalls, towards the middle of the two main blocks, where you see the whole stage without turning your head.

Are there restricted view seats at London County Hall?

Yes, but only in the Galleries. Several big pillars up there block parts of the stage from some seats, mostly in the side blocks and the back rows. The booking plan marks the seats they affect.

Is the view from the back of London County Hall any good?

From the back of the Stalls, yes, you still see all of the stage. From the back rows of the Galleries you are further away and higher up, and closer to the pillars, which is why those seats are cheaper.
