Phoenix Theatre, London
The Phoenix is on Charing Cross Road, a couple of minutes from Tottenham Court Road and Cambridge Circus, with Soho on one side and Covent Garden on the other. It has 1,028 seats over three levels, which is small by West End standards.
That size is the appeal. You're close to the stage from all three levels, and the top level here feels about like the Dress Circle in a much bigger theatre, so the cheaper seats are ones you'd actually want rather than something to settle for.
Still choosing seats? The best seats are in the middle of the Stalls, rows E to K, followed by the centre of the Dress Circle, rows C to F. For Stranger Things: The First Shadow, avoid the back of the Stalls: the show goes right up to the top of the stage, and back there you lose it.
Already booked? The main entrance is on Phoenix Street, round the corner from the address, and the Grand Circle has its own door there. The bars are small, so order your interval drinks before the show or have them brought to your seat. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later.
Each level has its own page, from the top down: the Grand Circle, the Dress Circle and the Stalls, with all three side by side on the seating plan. After those come how to get here, access and the bars, restaurants, bars and hotels nearby and more about the theatre.

What's On at the Phoenix Theatre
Stranger Things: The First Shadow plays here until Sunday 27 December 2026. It's Hawkins, Indiana, in 1959: pets are going missing, a new boy called Henry Creel has arrived with his family, and the teenagers who will grow up to be Joyce, Hopper and Bob start asking questions nobody wants asked. It's the official stage prequel to the Netflix series, it won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment, and it's packed with stage effects.
Evenings start at 7pm rather than the usual 7.30, and the show runs about three hours with one interval, so you're out around 10pm. It's recommended for ages 12 and over. The show page has the full schedule and the effects warnings.
The last weeks of a closing run are always the busiest, especially this show closing around Christmas, so book early rather than late. For the final week, call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll tell you what's left.
Nothing has been announced to follow it yet.
Ticket prices
For Stranger Things, tickets start from around £25 midweek. Weekends cost more at every level: the cheapest seats go up by about £10, and the most expensive by around £30 to £40. All-in pricing, the price you see is what you pay.
We can sometimes get offers on this show. The closer it gets to closing in December, the less likely that becomes, so ask early.

FAQs
How many seats does the Phoenix Theatre have?
1,028, over three levels: 490 in the Stalls, 280 in the Dress Circle, 254 in the Grand Circle and 4 in the two Boxes. The Stalls hold almost half the theatre on their own, so how far back you sit matters more here than which level you pick.
What's on at the Phoenix Theatre?
Stranger Things: The First Shadow, until Sunday 27 December 2026. Nothing has been announced to follow it yet, and we'll add the next show here as soon as it is.
Is there a dress code?
There isn't one, so wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Jeans, trainers and shorts are all fine.
Can I take food and drink in?
No. Food and drink bought outside isn't allowed in. There's a bar on every level, and you can order drinks and snacks to your seat before the show or for the interval.
Is there a cloakroom?
No, and suitcases of any size aren't allowed in either. Bags are checked at the door, so bring one small enough to go under your seat, and leave anything bigger at Charing Cross station, which has the nearest left luggage.
Can I bring children?
Under-16s need to be with an adult aged 18 or over. For Stranger Things, under-5s aren't admitted and the show recommends ages 12 and over.
What happens if I'm late?
You'll watch on a screen in the foyer and be taken to your seat at set points in the performance. Sometimes that means waiting until the interval or the end of the show, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later.
Can I buy tickets at the Box Office on the day?
Yes, if there's anything left. There are two Box Offices and they take turns: the Charing Cross Road desk opens at 10am Monday to Thursday, and the Phoenix Street desk at 10am Friday to Sunday, closing at 3pm on Sunday. On show evenings one of them is open until 7pm. Book with us instead and it's all-in pricing, so the price you see is what you pay.
Can I book by phone?
Yes. Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll tell you what's actually free on your date, which seats are the better buy for your budget, and what the gap between two prices gets you.
Is this the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth, Exeter, Leicester or Arizona?
No. This is the Phoenix Theatre on Charing Cross Road in London's West End, WC2H 0JP. Several other theatres and arts centres in the UK and the United States share the name.
