Restaurants, Bars and Hotels Near the Phoenix Theatre
The Phoenix sits between Cambridge Circus, Seven Dials and Denmark Street, one of the better-fed corners of central London. Chinatown, Soho and Covent Garden are all inside ten minutes, so the choice of restaurants, pubs and hotels is wide and the walk back is short.
Restaurants
Flat Iron (2 minutes). Denmark Street, just up the road on the same side. A simple steak menu, good value, and quick enough to eat properly before a 7pm start.
Kanada-Ya (4 minutes). St Giles High Street, on the way from Tottenham Court Road station. Quick, informal ramen, and the one to use when the clock is against you.
Grasso (6 minutes). Dean Street. Family-run Italian-American with a pre-theatre menu, so the timing is somebody else's problem.
Bars and pubs
The Cambridge (2 minutes). Cambridge Circus. The obvious pre-show pint, and close enough that you can leave it late.
The Toucan (6 minutes). Carlisle Street. Tiny, and it pours one of the best pints of Guinness in London. Closed on Sundays.
The Harp (8 minutes). Chandos Place, towards Covent Garden. A Fuller's pub that takes its cask ale seriously, and the walk makes it one for after the show.
Hotels
Z Hotel Soho (4 minutes). Moor Street. Compact rooms at sharp prices, and about as close to the theatre as a bed gets.
Radisson Blu Hotel, London Mercer Street (6 minutes). Seven Dials. A smart four-star and an easy base for a theatre weekend.
Assembly Leicester Square (6 minutes). Charing Cross Road. After the show it's one straight walk down the road, with no turnings to find. Small, modern rooms, and well priced.
Premier Inn London Leicester Square (7 minutes). The dependable value option, right in the middle of theatreland.
The Londoner (7 minutes). Leicester Square. Five stars, a spa and several restaurants and bars inside, so there's somewhere to be before the show as well as after.
