By tube
Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines) is the closest, 2 to 3 minutes on foot. Take exit 1 onto Sherwood Street and Denman Street is just along it. Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly lines) is about 7 minutes if you're coming from that direction.
By train
Charing Cross is the nearest mainline station, a 10 to 12 minute walk, or one stop on the Bakerloo line to Piccadilly Circus.
By bus
The closest stops are on Shaftesbury Avenue, Haymarket and Regent Street, all a minute or two from the door:
- Trocadero / Haymarket, about 60 metres away: the 14 (from Putney, Fulham and South Kensington) and the 19 (from Finsbury Park, Highbury and Angel)
- Haymarket / Jermyn Street, about 95 metres away: the 9 (from Hammersmith, Kensington and Knightsbridge), the 23 (from Westbourne Park, Paddington and Marble Arch) and the 139 (from Golders Green, West Hampstead and Baker Street, or from Waterloo)
- Regent Street / St James's, about 120 metres away: the 12 (from Dulwich, Peckham, Camberwell and Elephant & Castle), the 88 (from Clapham, Stockwell and Vauxhall, or from Parliament Hill and Camden Town), the 94 (from Acton, Shepherd's Bush and Notting Hill), the 159 (from Streatham, Brixton and Kennington) and the 453 (from Deptford, New Cross and Elephant & Castle)
Late at night, the N3, N9, N15, N18, N19, N97, N109, N113, N118 and N136 run through Piccadilly Circus.
By taxi
Black cabs are easy to find around Piccadilly Circus, and bookable taxis can set you down close by. Denman Street is small, so drivers will usually drop you at the Circus end or on Sherwood Street.
By car
Driving in isn't the easy option. There's no theatre car park, but two are within a few minutes' walk:
- NCP Brewer Street, in Soho, about 5 minutes behind the theatre
- Q-Park Leicester Square, Whitcomb Street, a few minutes the other side of the Circus
The theatre is inside the Congestion Charge zone, which runs from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from midday to 6pm at weekends, £18 a day. For an evening show you'll arrive after 6pm and won't pay it; for a matinee you will. The ULEZ applies around the clock if your car doesn't meet its standards.
What time to arrive
Arrive 30 minutes before, no later. That's earlier than we'd tell you for most theatres, for two reasons: nearly everyone comes in through one door into a small foyer, so the queue to get in is longer here than elsewhere, and the pre-show starts about 15 to 20 minutes before the advertised time. The queue moves quite quickly but is at its worst about 30 minutes before the show, and travelling light helps you skip the bag line.
Doors and the bars open 90 minutes before the performance, and the auditorium about 30 minutes before. Latecomers are let in at set points, usually within 10 minutes.
