Four levels stacked one above the other, the Stalls, Royal Circle, Upper Circle and Gallery, plus three small Boxes. It is intimate for its size, so most seats are close to the stage.
The one thing to understand before you pick a seat
It's an old theatre that hasn't been modernised inside. The Royal Circle, Upper Circle and Gallery curve round towards the stage, and the further you sit towards the sides, the more of the front corners you lose. At every level, pay for the middle of the row before you pay for a row nearer the front. The same age explains the seats: they're narrow, and the rows are close together, on every level.
Should I sit in the Stalls or the Royal Circle?
The Royal Circle, if you can. The centre of rows B to E is the best seat in the building: near the stage, just above it and square on to it, so the whole set is in front of you. Behind row E it starts to feel further away.
The Stalls are the choice if you'd rather be level with the actors and close to their faces. The middle of rows D to K is where to be. In front of row D you're low under a high stage, and from about row R back the Royal Circle above cuts off the top of the stage.
The levels at a glance
- Stalls: for being close to the actors, at one of the two top prices. Book the centre of rows D to K
- Royal Circle: for the best view in the theatre, and priced to match. Book the centre of rows B to E
- Upper Circle: for the whole stage at a lower price. Book the centre block, row C or further back
- Gallery: for the lowest price, on a bench, at the top of a long climb
- Boxes: for privacy rather than the view, two seats each
Where the value is
The middle of the Upper Circle, from row C back. You see the whole stage from above for much less than the levels below, and rows F and G in the middle are a price step down again. The Gallery is cheaper still, if you don't mind a bench and a long climb.
Seats for The Standard of Living start from around £30, up in the Gallery, and you pay most for the centre of the Royal Circle. The show page lists prices by date.

Seating Plan FAQs
What are the best seats at the Theatre Royal Haymarket?
In the centre block of the Royal Circle, rows B to E. Next best is the centre of the Stalls, rows D to K, and for less money, the Upper Circle's centre block from row C back.
Which seats should I avoid?
The side blocks of the Upper Circle, all of which are sold as restricted view. At the back of the Stalls, the Royal Circle cuts off the top of a tall set, and the Gallery is best skipped if heights bother you.
