Boxes at the Adelphi Theatre
Four Boxes, labelled A to D, with two seats in each. Eight seats in a building of nearly 1,500.
Are they worth it?
For most people, no, because the view is side-on.
A Box buys you privacy and a space of your own. It does not buy you the best view in the theatre. Boxes sit at the side of the auditorium, so you watch the stage at an angle, and at the Adelphi the same money will usually put you in the centre of the Stalls, which is the best seat in the building.
Book a Box if the occasion is the point. Two people, a private space, nobody in front of you and nobody beside you. That is a real thing to want and the Boxes deliver it.
Book the Stalls if the show is the point. On a stage this wide, an angled view costs you more than it would in a narrower theatre.
Each Box holds two people, so a Box does not solve a group booking, and the angle means you will lose some of the far side of the stage, which matters more for a show with wide staging than for a play worked front and centre.
FAQs
How many Boxes does the Adelphi Theatre have?
Four, labelled A to D, with two seats in each.
Are the Boxes better than the Stalls?
Not for the view. They are better for privacy. At the same money the centre of the Stalls gives you a better sightline on a stage this wide.
