Soho Place Theatre, London
Soho Place Theatre is at the top of Charing Cross Road, directly above Tottenham Court Road station. It has 602 seats on three levels, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? runs here from 21 September to 19 December 2026. The theatre writes its own name @sohoplace, with an at sign and in lower case.
Still choosing seats? The question here is not which side, it's how close. For this production the seating surrounds the stage on all four sides, so there's no bad side and nothing more than a few rows away. Sit in the front rows of the Stalls to be almost in it. Move back a few rows, or go up to the First Balcony, and you take the whole stage in at once.
Already booked? The building is step-free from the street, with two lifts to every level. There are security checks on the door, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later.
Check the plan for the production you're booking, not one you saw last time. The auditorium is rebuilt between shows, so the same row letter can sit somewhere else, or not exist at all.
Each level has its own page: the Stalls, the First Balcony and the Second Balcony, with all three together on the seating plan. After those come how to get here, access, bars and toilets, restaurants, bars and hotels nearby and more about the theatre.

FAQs
Is Soho Place a West End theatre?
Yes, and it's the newest one. It opened in October 2022 as the first new-build West End theatre in 50 years.
Is this the same as Soho Theatre?
No, they're two different buildings. Soho Theatre is on Dean Street and programmes mostly comedy, with cabaret and new writing, and it has a few spaces within it. Soho Place Theatre is on Soho Place, beside Tottenham Court Road station, and stages West End plays and musicals.
How many seats does Soho Place Theatre have?
602 is the theatre's own figure. The exact number changes with each production, because the seating is reconfigured, and we've seen plans as low as about 540.
Is there a dress code?
There isn't a formal one, so wear whatever's comfortable. The theatre only asks that nothing you wear blocks the view of the people behind you.
Can I take food and drink in?
No food from outside, and no hot food on sale inside either: the bars do crisps, sweets, chocolate and ice cream. For drinks, a sealed bottle of water is fine, and so is a soft drink in a plastic bottle or a carton, but leave glass bottles and your own alcohol at home.
Is there a cloakroom?
Yes, it's free and on the ground floor, and it takes suitcases, which are searched first. Any bag bigger than A4 has to be checked in. It opens 45 minutes before the show.
Can I bring children?
Yes, to shows that suit them. At every production here, anyone 14 or under has to sit next to an adult of 18 or over. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is recommended for 14 and over.
What happens if I'm late?
You'll be let in at a suitable break in the performance, if there is one, and you may be given a different seat from the one you booked, because in an auditorium this close to the stage getting to your own seat mid-scene isn't always possible. At Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? that means missing the opening scene, the late return from a party that sets up the whole night, and the production doesn't say where the breaks come.
Can I buy tickets at the Box Office on the day?
Yes, if anything is left for that performance. Book with us instead and it's all-in pricing, so the price you see is what you pay.
Can I book by phone?
Yes. Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll tell you what's actually free on your date and which seats are the better buy for your budget. The price we tell you on the phone is the price you pay.
