St Martin's Theatre, London
The Mousetrap, Agatha Christie's famous whodunnit and the longest-running show in the world, has played here since 1974. St Martin's has 564 seats over three levels on West Street in Seven Dials, London WC2H 9NZ, a couple of minutes' walk from Leicester Square station. This page covers the best seats level by level, ticket prices, getting here, and places to eat, drink and stay nearby.
Still choosing seats? Seats 1 to 5 and 18 to 22 in Stalls row G are the ones to book. A seating plan won't show you why: there's open floor in front of those ten seats, and nowhere else in the Stalls gives you as much legroom. The centre of Stalls rows H to L costs less and loses very little. Buying higher up? Upper Circle row E sees as much as the rows in front of it for less money, and that level's row A is the one to skip. Tickets run from around £30 up to around £150.
Already booked? The level you've chosen decides how much climbing you do. The Dress Circle is a few steps up from the foyer, the Stalls are 29 steps down, the Upper Circle is 28 steps up, and there's no lift. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, bring a card rather than cash, and leave big bags at home, as there's no cloakroom.
Below: the seating plan, a page each for the Stalls, Dress Circle and Upper Circle, what the Boxes are like, how to get here, access and facilities, restaurants, bars and hotels nearby, and more about the building.

What's On at St Martin's Theatre
The Mousetrap is booking here until Saturday 17 July 2027. Agatha Christie's play has been in this building since 1974, and before that it played next door at the Ambassadors, from 1952.
That's a booking-until date, not a closing date. The calendar gets extended as the run goes on, so July 2027 tells you how far ahead you can book today, not when the show ends.
It runs 2 hours 5 minutes, including a 20-minute interval, and the recommended age is 7 and over. There's never a Sunday performance. Up to Saturday 7 November 2026: 7:30pm Monday to Saturday, plus 3pm matinees on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. From Monday 9 November 2026: 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30pm on the other four evenings, and 3pm matinees on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Check the time for your date before you book.
We don't tell you how it ends. The cast ask the audience at the curtain to keep the secret, and it's held for over seventy years, so you won't find the ending on this page or anywhere else on our site.
In the daytime over Christmas there's a family show alongside the evening performances: The Smartest Giant in Town, adapted from the Julia Donaldson book, from 9 December 2026 to 3 January 2027.

FAQs
How many seats does St Martin's Theatre have?
564, across the Stalls, the Dress Circle, the Upper Circle and four Boxes.
Is St Martin's Theatre on St Martin's Lane?
It's on West Street, WC2H 9NZ, a minute's walk from St Martin's Lane, in Seven Dials. The two get mixed up all the time, so if you've been searching for a St Martin's Lane Theatre, this is the one you want. Next door is the Ambassadors, and The Ivy is directly opposite.
Is there a dress code?
No. Wear whatever you're comfortable in, which is the theatre's own advice too: the seats are close together and the play runs just over two hours. People come in jeans, straight from the office, or dressed up for the occasion, and nobody looks twice.
Can I take a bag in, and is there a cloakroom?
There's no cloakroom, and only small bags that fit under or in front of your seat are allowed in. Bags are checked at the door, so leave a minute for that, and don't arrive with a suitcase.
Can I eat and drink in the theatre?
Yes to light snacks, which the kiosk and bars sell, and to bar drinks in the plastic cups they're served in. No to anything hot, food or drink, anywhere in the building.
Can I pay with cash?
No. It's cards only, debit or credit, everywhere in the building.
Is St Martin's Theatre air-conditioned?
Yes. The exception is the Upper Circle while the play is on: its ceiling fan only runs before the show and at the interval, so it warms up during each act.
Can I bring children?
The Mousetrap is recommended for 7 and over, and nobody under 5 is admitted. Children need tickets of their own, whatever their age, and under-16s have to be seated beside a ticket-holding adult of 18 or over.
What time does the evening performance finish?
A 7:30pm performance comes down at 9:35pm and a 3pm matinee at 5:05pm. From 9 November 2026, the 7pm Tuesday and Thursday evenings finish at 9:05pm.
Can I book by phone?
Yes. Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll talk you through the seat numbers before you commit. The price we tell you on the phone is the price you pay.
