Three levels: the Stalls on the ground floor, then the Royal Circle, then the Grand Circle. The middle level here is the Royal Circle and the top one the Grand Circle, not the Dress Circle and Upper Circle you might be expecting from other theatres. There are Slips along the sides of both Circles and Boxes at the back and sides, and no lift, so both Circles are up the stairs.
Aim for the twenties
The centre aisle in the Stalls sits between seats 24 and 25, and it sits there in every row that has one. Rows get longer by extending further out at both ends, not by shifting the middle, so the centre of the Stalls is around seats 24 and 25 whether you're in row G or row U. The centre block is roughly seats 20 to 29.
The same holds upstairs. In the Royal Circle the aisle is between seats 20 and 21, so the centre block there is roughly seats 17 to 24, and in the Grand Circle there's an aisle between seats 19 and 20 in every row.
The aisle doesn't run the full depth of the two lower levels. In the Stalls, rows A to F are one block with no centre aisle, and the aisle runs from row G back. In the Royal Circle, rows A to E are one block, and the aisle runs from row F back. If you're tall, or booking with anyone who'll want to get out at the interval, a central seat in those front blocks means climbing past a lot of people, twice.
There's no row I on any level, because an I is easily misread as an L or a 1.
The levels at a glance
- Stalls, rows A to U, 719 seats. Rows F to K around seats 20 to 29 are the best in the building, and the back of the Stalls still sees the whole show
- Royal Circle, rows A to L, 414 seats. Rows B to D for the whole stage in one view, and row L for legroom
- Grand Circle, rows A to J, 356 places. Steep, with the value at the front and the most restricted seats at the back
- Boxes, at the back of the Stalls, behind the Royal Circle and along the sides of both Circles. A private space rather than a better view
Where the overhangs start
The Royal Circle hangs over the Stalls from row L, and the Grand Circle hangs over the Royal Circle from row C. At the back of either level you lose the very top of the stage. For Hamilton that matters less than it sounds: the staging climbs about halfway up the stage and no higher.
Restricted view seats
There are no pillars anywhere in the auditorium, so nothing here is blocked by the building itself. The seats sold as restricted are mostly about angle: the end seats of Stalls rows B to M, where Hamilton's set cuts off a little of the side of the stage, and the side Boxes and the Slips, which look at the stage from an angle. The back of the Grand Circle is the one part of the building that's significantly restricted.
Taller? The best seats for legroom
Royal Circle row L is the one to book: the theatre marks the whole row as extra legroom. In the Stalls, most seats are fine up to about 5ft 10, and from row G back an aisle seat lets you stretch one leg. Skip the front row of both Circles, and the back two rows of the Grand Circle, which are the tightest in the building. Ask us for a centre-aisle seat and we'll point you at the rows that have one.
Step-free seating
The Stalls only, from the entrance on Allington Street. The access page has the detail.

Seating Plan FAQs
What are the best seats for Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre?
Seats 20 to 29 in Stalls rows F to K: central, close, and in front of the Royal Circle overhang. For the whole stage in one view, the next choice is the centre of Royal Circle rows B to D, seats 17 to 24.
Is it better to sit in the Stalls or the Royal Circle for Hamilton?
The Stalls, if the price is similar. This is a deep Stalls, and even the back of it gets a decent view of the whole show. Go to the Royal Circle if you want the full picture of a big ensemble show, with all its movement and pattern on stage, or if you want the cheaper end of the good seats.
