Boxes at Wyndham's Theatre
Opening soon: John Proctor Is the Villain Book tickets
There are eight Boxes beside the stage, numbered straight through: 1 to 4 at Royal Circle level and 5 to 8 at Grand Circle level, two each side. Each seats two, on chairs you can move.
Should you book one?
For privacy and a sense of occasion, yes. For the view, no. They're side-on, so you typically lose about a third of the stage, and you'll be leaning and shifting your chair to see the far side.
Which Boxes to ask for
Ask for 3, 4, 7 or 8. They sit a little further back from the stage than 1, 2, 5 and 6, so you give up slightly less of the view. Box 4 is reached by a narrow staircase and a sliding door, which is part of the fun.
Better seats for the money
For the whole stage, book the front of the Royal Circle instead: it's the best view in the building. If you're watching the budget, the front of the Grand Circle sees everything for less, as long as you're not tall.
When a Box does make sense
A Box suits a couple who want their own space more than the full view, or a celebration. It also has more legroom than most seats here, because the chairs move, so if you're tall and the Grand Circle is out, it's worth a look. The front wall is low and padded, so you can lean on it.
For some productions, the Boxes nearest the stage are sold as single seats rather than pairs, so check what you're getting when you book.
