Boxes at His Majesty's Theatre
There are four Boxes beside the stage, each seating two. The pair at Stalls level are numbered 1 and 2; above them, at Royal Circle level, are 3 and 4. Boxes usually carry a best-seat reputation. Not here.
Should you book one?
Not for a first visit. You're hard on the side of the stage, and every Box loses the corner nearest to it, a noticeable slice of the stage. At Phantom a lot happens across the whole width of the stage and right up to the top of it, so that's a real loss.
Better seats for the money
For your first Phantom, the front of the Royal Circle, rows A to D, or the centre of the Stalls, rows D to K. Either shows you the whole stage, and the Royal Circle gives you the chandelier too.
When a Box does make sense
A Box gives you your own space and movable chairs, and you're very close to the stage, closer than almost anything else in the building. That suits a repeat visit, or a couple who'd rather have the privacy than the full view, as long as you book it knowing you'll be watching from the side.
The Stalls Boxes sit just above stage height, and the Royal Circle Boxes higher up, so it's a choice between being nearer the action and seeing it from a slightly better angle.
FAQs
Are the Boxes worth it at His Majesty's Theatre?
Not for the view. All four are beside the stage and lose part of it. Book one for the privacy or a repeat visit; for a first Phantom, the front of the Royal Circle or the centre of the Stalls is the better seat.
How many seats are in a Box at His Majesty's Theatre?
Two, on movable chairs. There are four Boxes, two at Stalls level and two at Royal Circle level.
