Grand Circle at His Majesty's Theatre

Rows A to K, the third level. At this theatre it doesn't feel far away, and it's usually well below the price of the Stalls and Royal Circle, which is why it's the value level here.

Where we'd put you

The centre block, as close to the front as you can get. If it is clearly cheaper than the Stalls or Royal Circle, it is the seat we would take. The circle curves round towards the stage, so the side blocks lose a front corner of it; in the centre you see the whole thing.

There are no pillars on this level, and nothing hangs over it, so the view from the back rows holds up better than you'd expect.

What to avoid

  • The corners of rows A to C. The first four or five seats at each end have a side view and are sold as restricted.
  • This level, if you're tall and can't get row K. Above about 5ft 6 you'll feel it in rows B to J, and the front row, A, is tighter still, at about 5ft 5.

Legroom in the Grand Circle

Row K, the back row, takes people up to about 5ft 9, and it's the row to book if legroom matters. An aisle seat is the next best thing.

Steps, and your entrance

It's 63 steps up from the ground floor, with no lift, and there are two steep steps between each row. The Grand Circle doesn't come in through the main doors on Haymarket: it has its own entrance, so check your ticket before you queue.

Drinks and toilets

The Grand Circle has its own bar, so the interval doesn't mean going back down the stairs. There are toilets on this level too.

FAQs

Is the Grand Circle good at His Majesty's Theatre?

For the price, yes. It's closer to the stage than it looks, there are no pillars and nothing overhead, and the centre block sees all of the stage. The trade is the legroom, which is tight everywhere except row K.

Is the Grand Circle too high?

It's the third level and 63 steps up, but it doesn't feel far from the stage. If height or stairs are the worry, the Royal Circle is 32 steps.

Where is the Grand Circle entrance?

Not through the main foyer. The Grand Circle and Balcony have their own entrances, so check your ticket before you join the queue on Haymarket.
