Royal Circle at the Noël Coward Theatre
199 seats in rows A to H, the level you walk in at from St Martin's Lane. There's a main central block, a small block of side seats at each end of the front rows, and four Boxes: C and D beside the stage, L and M at the sides of the level.
Where the value is
Rows G and H. They're usually priced below the rows in front, and from up here you see over the heads ahead of you more easily than from the rear Stalls at a similar price. A couple of seats in row H have nothing in front of them for two rows, which makes them the roomiest on the level. The Grand Circle is overhead from row F, and it can clip anything right at the top of the set from the back rows, but it rarely gets in the way.
The side blocks, at the ends of rows A to D, are cheaper again. You're sideways on to the stage, but you're closer to it than the rear Stalls for similar money. Skip the very outermost seats of each block, where the angle is at its worst.
The best seats
The centre of rows A to D. A clear view of the whole stage from a little above, and the rail along the front is low enough to stay out of your way. If you're tall, take row B or C before row A.
What to avoid
Rows F to H are the ones to question when they're priced the same as the front rows, because they feel a long way back for top money. On a production that prices them lower, they're the value seats described above. The outermost seats of the side blocks are sold as restricted view.
Legroom, stairs and toilets
Legroom is fine for most people up to about 5ft 9. Row A has a little less and row G a little more, and the two row H seats with nothing in front of them have the most on this level.
This is the step-free level. From the foyer it's three steps up to the back of the Royal Circle and then two down into each row, and wheelchair users reach their seats by a ramp at the front door. The access page has the detail. There are no gents' toilets on this level, and the accessible toilet is on the foyer level, near the cloakroom.
Royal Circle FAQs
Is the Royal Circle good at the Noël Coward Theatre?
Yes, all the way back. Rows A to D are the best on this level, and rows G and H are the better buy, usually cheaper and with a clearer view over heads than the rear Stalls.
What is the Royal Circle at the Noël Coward Theatre?
The first level up from the Stalls, and the one you walk in at from the street. At many other theatres the same level is called the Dress Circle.
