Access and Facilities at the Ambassadors Theatre
The step-free seats here are in the Stalls, reached by platform lift from the foyer. The Circle is up a few steps.
Access bookings are handled by the venue's own access team, not by us. Arrange accessible seats and confirm the step-free route through the venue's official site before you travel.
Getting in and getting to your seat
It's one step from the street into the foyer. From there, a platform lift takes you down to the Stalls, which are otherwise a flight of stairs below street level. The lift takes wheelchairs up to 85cm wide and 120cm long, and up to 400kg.
The Circle has no lift; it's up a few steps from the foyer.
Wheelchair and transfer seating
The two wheelchair spaces are in Stalls rows E and G, each with a companion seat next to it. Prefer a theatre seat? Staff will look after your wheelchair while you sit and bring it to you when you need it.
Accessible toilet
There's one, on the Stalls level beside the Stalls Bar.
Hearing support
The theatre uses a Sennheiser MobileConnect system that works throughout the auditorium, either through an app on your own phone or with a phone and headset collected from the ushers. The theatre has reported intermittent problems with the system, so contact the venue before your visit or arrive at least 30 minutes before curtain up.
Captioned, signed and audio-described performances
Each production sets its own dates for audio-described, captioned, BSL and relaxed performances, and some add a touch tour. You'll find them on the show's page once they're announced.
Assistance dogs and other support
Your assistance dog can come into the auditorium with you. If you'd rather it stayed out, arrange it when you book and staff will look after it in the manager's office. There are Sensory Guides for each performance from the Box Office, and you can make your own Visual Story Guide for the visit with the Picturepath app.
Bars
There are two bars, and both are very small:
- The Stalls Bar, next to the auditorium entrance
- The Circle bar, on the Circle level
Order your interval drinks before the show begins and they'll be waiting for you, no queue. You can also have drinks and snacks brought to your seat: scan the QR codes around the theatre, or order online on the day. Everything is card only.
Toilets
- Stalls: Ladies and Gents, plus the accessible toilet in the Stalls Bar area
- Circle: Ladies and Gents on the same level
In a small, old theatre, expect a queue at the interval.
Bags and coats
Suitcases, rucksacks and large bags aren't allowed in, and smaller bags are checked on the way in. The cloakroom is for small items only, so leave anything bigger at the luggage storage a minute's walk from the theatre before you arrive.
