Loges at the Prince of Wales Theatre
Four Boxes of four seats, at Circle level either side of the stage, which this theatre calls Loges. Every one is sold as restricted view, because the angle is very side-on, and that's why they're among the cheapest seats in the building. For the view alone, we wouldn't book them.
Where they are
Loges 1 and 3 are the lower pair, between the front of the Circle and the stage: Loge 1 on the right as you face the stage, Loge 3 on the left. Loges 2 and 4 are the high pair, on a narrow shelf well above the stage, 2 on the right and 4 on the left.
Loges 1 and 3
Slightly restricted, as long as you lean forward. Sit back and you lose about two fifths of the stage. If you want a bit of privacy and the side-on angle doesn't bother you, they're decent value.
Loges 2 and 4
High up as well as side-on, and we wouldn't put you in them. Unless you lean forward you lose about two thirds of the stage, and if heights bother you at all, don't consider them.
Legroom
The theatre marks all four Loges as extra legroom, and the chairs are freestanding, so you can move them. There's one upright chair and three low armchairs in each, and pushing your chair back for more room costs you some of the view.
Better seats for the money
At a similar price, the back rows of the Circle, in the centre, see the whole stage head-on, which no Loge does. If your budget stretches a little further, the side blocks of row J in the Stalls have nobody in front of them and plenty of legroom.
When a Loge does make sense
A Loge gives you your own entrance and a private space. Each holds four chairs you can move, so with two or three of you it's worth taking all four seats and spreading out. They're at Circle level, so it's stairs rather than a lift.
FAQs
Are the Loges worth booking at the Prince of Wales Theatre?
Usually not, because every Loge sees the stage from the side and is sold as restricted view. The lower pair, 1 and 3, lose less, and if you'd trade some of the view for a private space they're fair value. Loges 2 and 4 are high up, and we'd book a seat in the Circle instead.
Which Loge is best?
Loge 1 or Loge 3, the lower pair. Facing the stage, Loge 1 is on the right and Loge 3 on the left.
