Stalls at the Prince of Wales Theatre
Rows A to U on the ground floor, 666 seats. There's no row I, O or Q. This is the level we'd recommend first for The Book of Mormon. It has the best seats in the building, and it's level from the street.
Where we'd put you
Centre Stalls, rows D to G. The legroom in these rows is generous, and you can see over a tall person in front without shifting about.
Row J, in the side blocks: J34 to 42 on the left as you face the stage, J5 to 13 on the right. The value pick, because the walkway where row H's side seats would be means nobody is sitting directly in your eyeline.
Centre Stalls, rows J to L, if you want a little more of the stage picture at once, before the overhang starts.
Row H is the centre section only, 19 seats, so every seat in it is a central one.
What to avoid
- The last few seats at each end of rows J and K, J2 to J4, J43, J44, K2, K3, K45 and K46. They're sold for less because they miss the back corners of the stage.
- The outermost seats of the side blocks further back. The Loges hang over them.
- The ends of the front rows, A to G. These rows curve round the front of the stage, so the seats at the ends look at it side-on.
From row M back you're under the Circle and lose the very top of the arch, including the angel on top of it when it lights up. That's a real effect and a small one: everything on the stage stays in view.
Legroom in the Stalls
Good for all but the very tallest, and the seats are a little wider than usual. If you're tall, go for the front row or the J side blocks, or take an aisle seat anywhere from row J back and stretch one leg out. U16 to U21, near the middle of the back row, are the tightest, U21 especially.
Steps
None. The Stalls are level from the street, through the foyer and into the auditorium. Wheelchair users sit in rows T and U, and the access page has the detail.
Drinks and toilets
Stalls ticket holders drink in the Delfont Room, one floor below the foyer, with a lift as well as stairs, and it has proper seating. Down there too are the Stalls toilets and the adapted toilet. Order interval drinks when you arrive and they'll be waiting.
FAQs
Does the Circle overhang block the view from the back of the Stalls?
Barely. From around row M back, the Circle cuts off the very top of the arch around the stage. At The Book of Mormon that means missing the angel on top of the arch when it lights up. Everything on the stage itself stays visible.
Is row J good at the Prince of Wales Theatre?
In the side blocks, very. Nobody sits directly in front of you there, because row H has no side seats, and the legroom is as good as anywhere in the Stalls. Skip the very ends of the row, which lose the back corners of the stage.
