Restaurants, Bars and Hotels Near the Prince of Wales Theatre

The Prince of Wales sits between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square, with Chinatown a couple of streets north, so almost every restaurant worth eating at is inside five minutes. The catch is that the food immediately outside the door is aimed at people who have never been here before. Walk times below are from the theatre doors.

Restaurants

Brasserie Zédel (3 minutes). 20 Sherwood Street, just off Piccadilly Circus. A massive Art Deco brasserie down the stairs, doing straightforward French food at prices that surprise people given the setting. The set menu is the best-value pre-theatre meal this close to the door.

Wong Kei (4 minutes). 41-43 Wardour Street, in Chinatown. A vast, cheap Chinese restaurant over several floors, open until half eleven. The kitchen is quick enough to get a table of six fed inside forty minutes, which is the whole point before a show.

Flat Iron Piccadilly (4 minutes). 21 Denman Street. One cut of steak at one low price, and it takes bookings, so you can eat properly and still be in your seat for 7:30pm.

Fallow (4 minutes). 2 St James's Market, just south of Piccadilly Circus. Seasonal, low-waste British cooking, open from breakfast to 11pm, for a proper dinner before the show or after it.

Bars and pubs

The Blue Posts (3 minutes). 28 Rupert Street. A pub has stood on this corner since 1739. Now it's a craft beer pub with a wine bar under the same roof, so it works whichever kind of drink you're after.

Waxy O'Connor's (3 minutes). 14-16 Rupert Street. An Irish pub on several floors with a tree growing up through it. It's big enough that a pre-theatre group can usually find space.

Tom Cribb (2 minutes). 36 Panton Street, round the corner. An old boxing pub named after the bare-knuckle champion, and it stays open late enough for a drink after the show.

Hotels

The Londoner (2 minutes). 38 Leicester Square. Right on Leicester Square, with a spa and a handful of restaurants and bars in the building. Near enough to walk back to in the rain.

W London (2 minutes). Leicester Square. Bold, busy and geared to a night out rather than an early one.

Haymarket Hotel (3 minutes). 1 Suffolk Place, off Haymarket. A Firmdale hotel with its own brasserie and bar, for a stay that's part of the occasion.

The Z Hotel Piccadilly (5 minutes). 2 Orange Street. Compact rooms in a very good position, and the sensible option if the show is what you came for.
