Access and Facilities at the Savoy Theatre
Two doors at two levels, and no lift between them. Everything step-free here happens in the Dress Circle.
Access bookings are handled by the venue's own access team, through the theatre's official site. That side of it is handled by the venue, not by us.
Getting in
Savoy Court brings you in at the top of the building, with no lift below it. The Dress Circle is two flights down from that foyer, 32 steps, and the Stalls are 75.
The Carting Lane entrance comes in at street level directly into the Dress Circle, and that is the step-free route, opened for access bookings.
Wheelchair spaces and transfer seats
Each performance takes either one wheelchair user plus a companion, or two wheelchair users side by side, all in the Dress Circle. Transfer seating is in the same level: row F, two steps, or row G, three. Row F sits in front of the rail across the rear section and row G behind it.
Toilets
Dress Circle level has the accessible toilet, the same level the Carting Lane door opens into.
The toilet queues at the interval are long, often most of the interval, so go before the show or as soon as the interval starts.
Hearing
Hearing support is an app, Mobile Connect, on your own phone: arrive with it charged and bring wired headphones.
Assistance dogs
Welcome, and they stay with you during the performance.
Bars and drinks
There are bars and kiosks on all levels and none of them is step-free. Drinks can be brought to your seat instead, and the theatre takes in-seat orders. The bars are small, so ordering from your seat is the better way to do the interval whichever level you are on.
The Box Office
On Savoy Court. Open daily from 10am: until 7pm on Monday and from Wednesday to Saturday, until 5pm on Tuesday, and until 3pm on Sunday. An hour before curtain up it stops selling for future performances.
FAQs
Is the Savoy Theatre wheelchair accessible?
Yes, at Dress Circle level. The Carting Lane entrance is at street level and opens into the Dress Circle, where the wheelchair spaces, the transfer seats and the accessible toilet all are. There is no lift, so the Stalls and Grand Circle are not step-free. Access bookings go through the venue's own team.
Is there a lift at the Savoy Theatre?
No. Below the Savoy Court foyer it is stairs only, 32 to the Dress Circle and 75 to the Stalls. Anyone who needs to avoid stairs books the Dress Circle and uses the Carting Lane door.
